Promotional Products Work! Week – Day 1

Silver Lining Dance Academy is a dance studio that was established in 2002. What started as helping one shy student learn to dance has now blossomed into a studio with over 175 students and 5 teachers specializing in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip-hop lyrical, contemporary and ballroom style dancing.

SLDA has a program that they call their “Sticker Club.” Each family that registers at the academy receives a complimentary car decal, (they can also opt for a personalized sticker with their students name on it). If they put the sticker on their vehicle, they are automatically considered members of the sticker club. This allows them to get their name recognized around the community and it also makes them eligible for special monthly perks.

Each month has a different perk, the perks are chosen ahead of time by the staff and they are different every month of every year. This year, the February perk was an SLDA drawstring backpack available for purchase for $5.00.


SLDA staff were drawn to the backpack because it offered both quality and value. They knew that the bag was not something that they were going to lose money on, but at the same time, it was seen as a good value for families to purchase. As an added benefit, it helps to advertise even more for the studio.

The promotion was very well received, the kids loved the bag. The color is vibrant and the imprint provided great contrast. After the month of February was over, the bags remained available for sale for $10.00. Since the bags did not feature a specific year or event name, they ended up being a great item for the studio to keep in stock and continue to sell.

SLDA was able to create a sense of urgency for purchasing their custom bag by offering it at a lower price for the month of February. Their sticker club is a unique and creative way to engage families at the dance studio, it goes beyond just selling customized merchandise. It’s easy for a merch store to get old, especially if customers are seeing it weekly. This technique with the sticker club is an excellent way to keep customers interested and sharing your message!
